2017 Preview

2017 Works in Progress - BBW Drawings Kevin Richardson
Oh the mess that I have made...

It was announced that I would be taking a step back from these drawings in 2017. Hopefully this was interpreted as having more pressing matters to tackle. For starters, I'm currently working on the prequel to a graphic novel. If interested you can check out the first Southern Hospitality comic on Comixology.

More Bubbles

Decided to do a 3-piece set involving the model known as "Bubbles." This was drawn last year, can't remember the exact time. Guessing around August.

2017 Announcement

2017 will probably be the year where these BBW drawings will probably be coming to a close. I haven't been posting here or on the FB page as much as I use to. Truth be told, my energies has been concentrated in other areas.

I may slip a new drawing or two here or there but don't expect the same level of output as of recent years.

I've been producing these drawings since 2010. At many points throughout the years these drawings will hit a wall where I would step away to recharge my creative juices and then I would eventually return to them. There's a possibility that this may be the case - however I've drifted away into other long term projects and the balancing act has become more difficult. As of this post all future drawings will be on indefinite hiatus.

Thank you all for your support.

The Goddess

Here's a drawing that was done back in 2013 in which the progress was well documented but somehow it hasn't been brought to life until now. Don't really have any real thoughts to how this came to life with exception that I've struggled with the background - struggled with the concept of what was suppose to be a background. I try to be a bit more thorough with these drawings now. From start to completion, I try to keep the full concept in mind instead of making drawings on the fly. Guess this why these drawings have taken so long to execute as of late.

In the Works...

Sometimes, there is a bit of difficulty with putting the pencil down. In accordance with the previous announcement, I'm not turning out the pilot light just yet. I have plenty of outlines that will initially turn into finished drawings. These were slated to be in the works anyway. I generally prefer to work on few drawings at a time to keep myself from getting bored of frustrated with one. These would be residuals from what was suppose to be the last batch. I'm still working on these - However, I'm in no rush to finish them.

Queen Bee 1 & 2

If you recall from a previous blog posting, "A Big Things Are-a Comin'" I cryptically posted a pic of the vivacious Ms. Dawn P for what seems for no rhyme or reason. Maybe I was just bored and thought it would be cleaver to post a picture of some well known internet model from out of the blue? Well not really. Actually Ms. Dawn P is part of a transition mark in the direction of these drawings. See, I have actually reached out to her and she gave me her blessing to do a series of drawings based on her. So here it is in all of it's glory.

Latest Editions

The first drawing for a forthcoming series called "skin"
If one thing, 2014 has been a year where productivity has picked up. I have other things going on and I'll have to keep in perspective that these drawing are mainly done in fun. I'm trying to keep a schedule of one drawing a month to keep myself and the my newfound followers satisfied.

Last Drawing of 2013

2013 is in the books and at this time would be nothing more than an after thought. It would be appropriate to showcase a little something. For those who are not familiar with the Big Girls Rock series, they are a series of big beautiful women (BBW) graphite drawings that I've started illustrating towards the end of 2010. The majority of work was done in 2010, but occasionally new additions would be added.

Being in between projects, I opted to take the last few days of 2013 off to just relax and do whatever silly drawings or shenanigans I would involve myself with. Don't really know what really "inspired" me to draw this. This is one of those drawings that maybe I was being sentimental and drew on some diluted nostalgic moment from the past. Then again it was the holidays and I do concede to being very lonely. They are sometimes I do things more out of compulsion rather than think the purpose through.

Below would be the work in progress up until the final pic which would be it. The final being an incomplete drawing for I had decided to not move along with it beyond 2013.

Bubbles - In Progress

There is a fan of the Voluptuous Vixens series who had requested that I do an illustration of her and with my extensive schedule, I obliged. Below is the working illustration tentatively entitled "Bubbles."

Detail and development of the face.

The most agonizing part of drawing is that sometimes the paper you use will have some strange looking indentations which can present problems. Luckily, this was minor inconvenience.

The "complete" drawing for a while. Felt that it needed more to be added into the collection. Personally I was very satisfied with this one however the rest of the drawings had a theme and I felt the above drawing lack anything significant to be included into the collection. After speaking with the model she suggested that since people called her "Bubblebutt" that I should throw bubbles into the picture and a-ha! a theme was born.

Here come the bubbles which in this case meant subtractive drawing. This was quite challenging considering the desired effect...

Bubbles (2) part 3. Background

Here we are towards the end of the 3-part journey of Bubbles (2) Now that I think of it, I never occurred how much time was invested producing this piece. The body is now complete so it's time to work on the background.

End.

Bubbles (2) part 2. Cloth and Background

Here is the continued documentation of the latest addition to the Big Girls Rock Gallery. Once again, special shout out to the lady (who shall remain anonymous) who was been lovely enough to model.

We're we last left off (above) we mainly focused on the hair and the skin tones which for the most part have been established. With the exception of having to go back and add some darker values, the skin and the hair is done. So we move on with the cloth, bubbles and the background.

Here is the close-up of the yet to be finished cloth. We begin with a very light "underpainting" with an HB pencil. This is done to help build the value of the cloth...

Sooner or later there are some aspects of the cloth which already been established.

By Now, the background would begin to be built with bubbles in the backdrop. There is really no deep meaning for the bubbles with the exception that this was requested by the model.

More to come...
